William Johnson is being held on a $10,000 bond
FARMINGTON — A Nageezi man is facing multiple charges on accusations of sexually assaulting a girl.
William Johnson, 34, was charged in Farmington Magistrate Court with three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, a third-degree felony, and three counts of criminal sexual penetration, a second-degree felony, according to court records.
The District 10 office of the New Mexico State Police in Farmington investigated the case.
Johnson is accused of groping the teenage girl's breasts over her clothing and penetrating her vagina with his fingers on three occasions this year, according to the criminal complaint.
He did not have legal representation as of this morning, according to court records.
While speaking a state police officer and a caseworker for the Children, Youth and Families Department on Aug. 19, the victim's mother said she was aware of the alleged sexual abuse, but she thought it was an isolated incident that occurred once and didn't report it to law enforcement.
In a Sept. 5 interview, the mother told officers the victim did not want her to report the incident to law enforcement.
During a forensic interview with the victim on Sept. 5, she told officers Johnson would enter her bedroom at night and lay beside her on her bed before committing the alleged abuse.
Johnson was incarcerated at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center as of this afternoon on a $10,000 cash at 10 percent bond.
A hearing to review the conditions of Johnson's release and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
