Police search for Farmington mall carjacking suspect

FARMINGTON — Police are searching a man who allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint Monday from the Animas Valley Mall parking lot.

Officers for the Farmington Police Department were dispatched to the Animas Valley Mall at 4601 E. Main St. around 1:58 p.m. Monday on reports of an armed robbery, according to spokeswoman Georgette Allen.

A gray 2007 Chrysler Sebring was taken from the parking lot on the east side of the mall near the entrance near the Tilt arcade.

The suspect is described as a Native American or Hispanic male wearing black clothing with a black mask covering half of his face. He was reported to be armed with a handgun, according to Allen.
