Man charged for having sex with 14-year-old female
FARMINGTON – A Farmington man is facing seven felony charges after allegedly having sex with and receiving naked photos from a 14-year-old female.
Blaine Begay, 20, was charged in Aztec Magistrate Court on Jan. 30 with five criminal sexual penetration charges, a child solicitation by electronic communication device charge and a sexual exploitation of a child charge, according to court records.
During an interview with the Bloomfield Police Department on Jan. 28, Begay admitted having sex with the female five times at her Bloomfield home, according to the affidavit for arrest warrant.
Public defender Laurah Bernard, Begay's attorney, did not respond to requests for comment.
The female said in an interview with Bloomfield police that she met Begay on social media and started a relationship when she was in eighth-grade, according to court paperwork.
The five alleged instances of sex took place between April 2016 and September 2016, according to the criminal complaint.
Both Begay and the female said he would enter her bedroom at night through a window before having sex.
Begay told police that he had dinner with the female's family twice.
In one instance, Begay alleged that the female's mother allowed him to stay overnight in the female's bedroom if they left the bedroom door open, according to court paperwork.
He also told a Bloomfield police officer and detective during the interview that the female sent him naked photographs three times from her cellphone and one time he requested naked photos.
During a search of the female's phone, naked photos of the her were found in messages sent to a contact labeled "Blueberry," according to court paperwork. Begay told police "Blueberry" was a nickname given to him by the female's younger sister.
Begay was released from the San Juan County Detention Center on Feb 10. He has an arraignment scheduled for Feb. 27 in district court, according to court records.
