FBI, Navajo police continue homicide investigation
FARMINGTON — The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are continuing to investigate a possible homicide that happened Friday night in Sheep Springs.
A suspect is in tribal custody, and federal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, according to information released Sunday by the FBI.
The victim's name has not been released, but the FBI release described her as "an adult Navajo woman."
The woman was stabbed several times, but the exact cause of death is pending an autopsy, according to the FBI.
FBI spokesman Frank Fisher said today that no further information was available because the investigation is ongoing.
