FARMINGTON — A 46-year-old Crouch Mesa man is accused of sexually molesting a female teenage relative.

Guerrero Alvarado was charged Wednesday in Aztec Magistrate Court with criminal sexual penetration of a minor, a second-degree felony, and criminal sexual contact of a minor, a fourth-degree felony.

Alvarado was being held at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.

He has not retained legal representation, according to court records.

The alleged victim reported to high school officials on Tuesday that Alvarado molested her while she was asleep at the family's home in San Juan County, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. She told a deputy from the San Juan County Sheriff's Office that Alvarado came into her bedroom while she was asleep Monday morning and touched her inappropriately, the affidavit states.

The girl said she asked Alvarado what he was doing, and he left the room, according to the affidavit.

She said Alvarado had previously also touched her inappropriately, but she did not report it because she did not believe anyone would believe her, the affidavit states. Another teenage female relative of Alvarado told the deputy she had also been groped by the man, but did not report it, according to the affidavit.

Alvarado was interviewed by detectives and denied the allegations, the affidavit states.

A preliminary examination hearing has not been scheduled.
