FARMINGTON — A 34-year-old man was charged Wednesday in Aztec Magistrate Court with 59 counts of child sexual abuse on allegations he repeatedly molested a young female relative over a span of eight years.

Jose Osvaldo Madrid-Pinon is charged with four counts of criminal sexual penetration in the first degree, 54 counts of criminal sexual contact in the second degree and one count of criminal sexual contact in the third-degree.

He was being held today at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 cash-only bond, according to court records.

Madrid-Pinon has not retained legal representation, court records state.

The girl reported the alleged abuse to a local middle school assistant principal on Sept. 13, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. She told criminal investigators in an interview that Madrid-Pinon invited her into the bathroom of his home in 2008, when she was 4 years old, and attempted to penetrate her genitally, but he stopped when an adult female relative knocked on the bathroom door, the affidavit states.

She said in 2012, Madrid-Pinon took her to his bedroom and sodomized her, according to the affidavit. She told investigators he stopped when the adult female relative entered the home, according to the affidavit.

Beginning in 2013, the girl said Madrid-Pinon would regularly put his hands underneath her clothing and grope her breasts and buttocks, the affidavit states. She told investigators he would sometimes sexually stimulate himself in the bathroom afterward, according to the affidavit.

The girl said he again sodomized her last summer, according to the affidavit, and twice Madrid-Pinon asked her to perform oral sex on him, most recently on Sept. 5, the affidavit states.

All the incidents occurred at Madrid-Pinon's residence in San Juan County, according to the affidavit.

The girl's sister was also interviewed by investigators, according to the affidavit. She did not disclose any incidents of sexual abuse.

Detectives with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office interviewed Madrid-Pinon on Sept. 13, the affidavit states.

He initially denied he had sexual contact with the girl, but then allegedly admitted he had grabbed her breasts on three occasions because he was "tempted," according to the affidavit.

After further questioning, he allegedly admitted he attempted to engage in various types of sex with the girl, and had asked her to perform oral sex on him, the affidavit states.

A preliminary examination hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
