FARMINGTON — A 33-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving her vehicle into a residence in northeast Farmington while intoxicated.

Farmington police spokeswoman Georgette Allen said today that police were dispatched at approximately 1:15 p.m. Saturday to the area of 20th Street and Mesa Verde Avenue after receiving reports of the incident.

Police learned at the scene that a white SUV had left the road and crashed into the front porch of a residence at 2000 Mesa Verde Ave.

The driver, Charlene Saunders, was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, according to Allen.

Allen said police found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Saunders was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and booked into the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.

Saunders has no prior record of driving intoxicated, according to court records.

Allen said police did not have an estimate of the damage caused to the residence.
