FARMINGTON — Ferguson Pierce pleaded guilty today in federal court to aggravated sexual abuse in the rape of an 85-year-old Huerfano woman, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.

Pierce, 52, of Farmington, was arrested Nov. 16 on allegations that he forced his way into the woman's home on July 6 and raped her in her bed, according to a criminal complaint.

The woman told FBI agents that Pierce slapped her twice and bit her arm during the sexual assault. She said she agreed to drive Pierce to his brother's residence after the assault because she feared he would kill her if she did not, according to the complaint.

At sentencing, Pierce faces approximately 17 1/2 to 22 years in prison, followed by at least five years of supervised release, according to the press release.

A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
