Detectives pursue leads in Flora Vista stabbing

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office on Monday investigates a stabbing in Flora Vista. A man who told police he had been stabbed was dropped off at the Farmers Market grocery store in Flora Vista.

FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday continued to investigate a stabbing that occurred Monday afternoon in Flora Vista.

The victim, Creighton Smith, was treated and released Tuesday from San Juan Regional Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Laura Werbner.

Smith, 28, of Kirtland, told detectives he was stabbed twice in an altercation with an unidentified suspect. He was dropped off at the Farmers Market grocery store in Flora Vista by a yellow Ford F-150 pick-up truck at approximately 3:45 p.m. Monday.

The truck left the scene before deputies arrived.

Sheriff's office detective Sgt. Candice Montoya said Tuesday that police were continuing to search for the driver of the vehicle, and detective were pursuing leads in the investigation.
