FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was sentenced Tuesday to two years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to bank robbery, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Richard Allen Buckner, 23, allegedly stole about $4,000 on March 18 from First Convenience Bank inside Walmart, 4600 E. Main St. in Farmington.

Buckner allegedly approached a bank teller with a handwritten note that read, "Give me $4,000 And Nobody gets Hurt," according to Daily Times archives.

After seeing surveillance photographs from the robbery, two witnesses contacted Farmington police and identified Buckner as the man in the images, according to the press release.

Buckner was arrested in Flora Vista on March 19, according to archives.

He pleaded guilty during a hearing on Sept. 1.
