FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred during the early morning hours on New Year's Day.

Farmington police spokeswoman Georgette Allen said police were dispatched at about 2:44 a.m. Friday to the 1200 block of North Wall Avenue after receiving a call from a 59-year-old man, who reported being shot multiple times inside his residence.

The area was closed for several hours and a possible suspect is in custody but has not been charged, Allen said. Authorities are not releasing the possible suspect's name because charges have not been filed, she added.

The victim was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center then flown to an Albuquerque hospital sometime after 7:30 a.m., Allen said.
