FARMINGTON – A 26-year-old Blanco man was accused last week of molesting his girlfriend's mother.

Jonathan Valencia was charged Dec. 21 in Aztec Magistrate Court with criminal sexual penetration, a third-degree felony, misdemeanor criminal sexual contact and petty larceny.

Valencia was released from the San Juan County Adult Detention Center after posting a $11,200 surety bond, according to court records. He has not yet retained legal representation, records state.

Deputies from the San Juan County Sheriff's Office were dispatched Dec. 19 to a residence on County Road 4381 after receiving reports a woman was groped by her daughter's boyfriend, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The mother told detectives her daughter's boyfriend, Valencia, had been harassing her for an extended period of time, and earlier that day, he entered her room, stuck his hand down her pants and groped her. The woman said she fought him off, but he left the residence with several pairs of her underwear, the affidavit states.

The woman underwent a sexual assault examination, according to the affidavit. Detectives reviewed her phone and found several explicit and harassing text messages from Valencia, the affidavit states.

"I barrowed three pairs I'll bring them all back I promise," Valencia stated in one of the messages, according to the affidavit. "I'm just gonna (borrow) them tonight I'll bring them back since you won't give me anything else."

Valencia was arrested at his residence on County Road 4460, the affidavit states. He declined to provide a statement, according to the affidavit.

Valencia is expected to appear at a preliminary examination hearing on Jan. 7.
