FARMINGTON — A suspect is in custody in connection to the murder of a 59-year-old Flora Vista woman, an official with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday.

Detective Lt. Kyle Lincoln said Karen Cugnini was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound on Thursday at her residence at No. 236 County Road 3050 in Flora Vista. Lincoln said the homicide occurred on either Wednesday or Thursday.

The SWAT team arrested the suspect Saturday at a residence near South Butler and Ouray avenues in Farmington, according to Lincoln.

Lincoln said several items were stolen from Cugnini's residence. He said a warrant will be issued for the suspect either tonight or Tuesday morning.

The Flora Vista home of Karen Cugnini, who police say was found shot to death at her home last week, is pictured on Monday. Police have arrested three people in connection to the death.
