SHOOTING FOR HEALTH: Set your sights on men's health. Literally.
The Stay on Target trap shoot fundraiser is Aug. 5. The competitive trap shoot, beginning at 7 a.m. at the San Juan Wildlife Federation range, benefits the Riley Men’s Health Fund in assisting local men in receiving medical exams, procedures, medication, diagnostic testing, treatment and other health related services. The cost is $100 for individuals and $500 for a team Last year, the fund expended nearly $58,000 to help 129 men in San Juan county. CANCER SUPPORT GROUP: The Four Corners Women's Cancer Support Group will meet Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Umbach Cancer Center at 731 Animas, Farmington. Cynthia Billings will present on general lymphedema. All women who have, or had, cancer are invited to attend. URANIUM WORKERS INFO WORKSHOP: Cold War Patriots will host town hall meetings for former uranium workers in Farmington, Aug. 9 so uranium workers may learn about government compensation & healthcare benefits. The community resource advocacy group helps nuclear weapons and uranium workers and their families get recognition, compensation and healthcare. ECLIPSE VIEWING: Stop by the Farmington Public Library, 2101 Farmington Ave., on Aug. 21 from 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Local astronomy enthusiast Pat Keating is setting up his high-power telescope equipped with filters for safely viewing the total eclipse of the sun. LEGAL ADVICE FOR THE ELDERLY: The New Mexico State Bar Association will host a free legal workshop for seniors at the Bonnie Dallas Senior Center, 109 East La Plata St. in Farmington on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
