Blake's Lotaburger is adding a menu item to celebrate its 70th birthday

ALBUQUERQUE - Blake's Lotaburger is turning 70 this summer and to celebrate the New Mexico cultural icon is adding a menu item.

Starting June 27 and lasting for a limited time, patrons will be able to purchase a Chocolate Birthday Cake Shake at all locations.

Blake's was founded July 9, 1952 by Blake Chanslor and has expanded to more than 70 restaurants and in three states, though the majority of franchises still reside in New Mexico. The fast food chain is famous for its Hatch green chile cheeseburgers.
