Thank you to everyone that supports the Farmington Chamber of Commerce. Every month, hundreds of people volunteer their time to make sure the chamber is holding up to its mission, which is organized for the purpose of serving and advancing the civic and business interests of the city of Farmington and the Four Corners region.

The chamber’s annual banquet, which was held on Jan. 20, was a huge success. Everyone looked gorgeous, the food was delicious and the room was beautiful. Thank you Ashley Ritter and Heather Fortner for doing an outstanding job on this event. Not only did everyone have a wonderful time, but we were able to honor very special people. Congratulations to Scott Michlin, who was named "Citizen of the Year" and to Defined Fitness, which was named "Business of the Year."  Jeff Smith, past chairman of the chamber board, gave the chamber’s 2016 report.

You may find the chamber’s annual report at gofarmington.com.

Also at the annual banquet, we welcomed Carmen Martinez, who will serve as chairman of the chamber for 2017. Carmen shared with everyone the 2017 plans for the chamber. One thing the chamber will do this year is make sure our members are getting the most out of their membership by adding more seminars and networking opportunities. We will be looking at ways to encourage people who are looking to relocate to Farmington and ensure they have the information and opportunities they are looking for. We will also be encouraging everyone to continue to "Shop Local." Other plans are to continue to working with our community partners, such as Four Corners Economic Development, Farmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city of Farmington and the Aztec and Bloomfield chambers.

The 2017 New Mexico legislative session is now taking place in Santa Fe. The chamber’s Redcoat Ambassadors attended the legislative reception last month and shared information with legislators about issues in San Juan County.  As ambassadors of Farmington, they also had the opportunity to share all that is great about Farmington.

Remember you can always stop by the chamber office for all the latest news that is happening in the community or give us a call. Our office is located at 100 W. Broadway Ave., and our phone number is 505-325-0279.
