Farmington Ulta Beauty store hosts grand opening
FARMINGTON — The new Ulta Beauty store at the Animas Valley Mall in Farmington will host its grand opening celebration this weekend.
The first 100 customers on Friday through Sunday will receive store gift cards ranging from $5 to $100. Beauty consultations and discounts on services will also be offered throughout the weekend.
The store, which employs more than 20 employees, has been open for the last week. Store manager Amanda Matherly said she wants the store to serve as a one-stop shop for the area's beauty needs.
"What I’m really excited about are the services we offer," she said. "In addition to a full hair and nail salon, we have a dermatological facial room and a brow bar with two certified arch experts that can do brow and facial waxing, as well as lash services."
The 11,000-square-foot store offers both high-end beauty and fragrance products, such as Dolce & Gabana, Prada and NYX, and items that can be found at other local stores like Walgreen's and Target. It further sells a range of hair dryers, curling irons, hair products and accessories, as well as skin maintenance brushes and products.
The store, located on the mall's west end near JCPenney, also houses a full-service salon, and certified aestheticians can provide skin analyses and makeup matching services.
Headquartered in Chicago, Ulta Beauty is the largest beauty retailer in the nation, operating 907 retail stores in 48 states, according to a press release.
Matherly said she has already received positive feedback from customers who normally travel to Albuquerque to get their Ulta fix. She said she hopes new customers will visit the store for standard beauty items and be tempted to try more high-end items and services.
"People get used to a routine, so we want to draw them in with what they’re used to, and then hopefully they’ll let us introduce them to new things," she said.
Customer Laurie Patterson got her hair done at the new store's salon on Wednesday. The Boise, Idaho, resident has been staying in Farmington for the past few months for work and said she was excited to see a branch of the store opening here.
"I really like Ulta because it’s like a one-stop shop for everything," she said. "I love the dermatological products, and I like that they always train their aestheticians. I also like the bonuses you can earn."
