Farmington Chamber highlights fall activities

Audra Winters
Farmington Chamber of Commerce president and CEO

What a great summer this has been.  We have had beautiful weather; all of the rain that we have received has been so nice. Everything is so green. The Farmers Markets this year have been outstanding with all of the fresh fruits and vegetables.  The Connie Mack games were very successful and so far everyone had a great time out at the San Juan County Fair.  I hope your summer has been one of the best.

Now it is time to think back to school. The Farmington Chamber Education committee hosted its annual new teacher luncheon on Aug. 11.  The committee welcomed 60 new teachers to the district.  We hope this is another successful year for all of our teachers.  The Farmington School district is still in need of a few great teachers, so if you are interested in teaching this year or if you know of someone please have them apply. Also with school just starting remember to watch out for all the children walking to and from school.

SAVE THE DATE! For the Chamber’s Annual Chile in October, this year’s event will be held on Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Berg Park.  As you may know this is the weekend to get your chili fix and to have lots of fun. We are still looking for some really good red chili, green chili and salsa cooks.  If you are interested, please give the chamber a call we would love have you participate.  This is also the chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year. We hope you will plan on attending.

Remember you can always stop by the chamber office for all the latest news that is happening in the community or give us a call. Our office is located at 100 W. Broadway and our phone number is 505-325-0279. We would love to see you. The Farmington Chamber is organized for the purpose of serving and advancing the civic and business interest of the city of Farmington and the Four Corners region.
