FARMINGTON — A business that offers in-home health care services for seniors 24 hours a day has opened a new office in Farmington.

This month, Visiting Angels — a national chain with regional locations in Durango, Pagosa Springs, Alamosa and Cortez, Colo. — opened near Sonic and Grease Monkey at 1515 E. 20th St., Suite F, in Farmington.

The franchise business is the first in New Mexico, according to Iva Francisco, client care manager at the new Farmington office.

The company offers living assistance services, companionship and help with light housecleaning, laundry, meal planning and preparation, medication reminders and running errands, according to the company's website.

Franchise owner Chris Smith said the business starts with its workers, who provide care for homebound seniors.

“It all starts with our employees. We only hire the best people in the community, and we treat them with respect and appreciation. Our caregivers do important, meaningful work,” Smith said in a press release.
