Del Taco will open next month in Farmington
FARMINGTON — Del Taco Restaurants Inc. will open its sixth New Mexico location in Farmington on Dec. 1.
The American-style Mexican restaurant offers Mexican staples, like burritos and tacos, and American favorites, like burgers and crinkle-cut fries. The new restaurant will be located on East Main Street near the roadway's intersection with Piñon Hills Boulevard, just east of the recently opened Dick's Sporting Goods..
The fast-food chain, based out of Lake Forest, Calif., has five other locations — three in Albuquerque, one in Rio Rancho and another in Los Lunas — in New Mexico.
Del Taco changed its name to Del Taco Restaurants Inc. when the company went public in June, according to an Oct. 19 press release from the company. The company operates nearly 550 restaurants in 16 states.
Originally started in 1964 with the opening of Del Taco's first location in Yermo, Calif., the chain revamped its menu this year with a line of salads and introduced California-grown Hass avocados that are now available with many items, according to Del Taco's website.
The restaurant also has launched items that combine Mexican and American fare, like bacon chipotle cheddar fries and chili cheese nachos.
Del Taco's 2015 roll-out of its “UnFreshingBelievable" marketing campaign promotes the eatery's variety of fresh food offerings, like pico de gallo salsa and lard-free beans slow-cooked from scratch.
The restaurant also will offer low-priced items on its "Buck and Under" menu, some less than $1 per item, and breakfast items, like breakfast burritos and tacos and hash-brown sticks.
