Chamber Chat: Four Corners Oil and Gas Conference returning in May
In April I will be celebrating my fifth Anniversary with the Farmington Chamber and I still can’t believe that I get to come to work every day to a job I love. It has been a wonderful five years and I am looking forward to many more.
Over the last five years I have met and had the honor of working with some really great people. Working together we have had the opportunity to make some big and small changes at the chamber.
A few of the things we have done are update the Chamber’s website and database, installed a new display unit for member’s business cards and brochures, updated our Bylaw and policies and procedures, updated our membership investment and benefits, held the first young professionals conference and created a membership and retirement committee.
As we move forward we are always looking at ways to improve the Chamber and would love to hear from you, please feel free to contact us with your ideas.
Oil and Gas Conference May 9
The Chamber is getting ready for the 2018 Four Corners Oil and Gas Conference, which will be held on May 9 and 10 at Mc Gee Park. This conference happens every other year and the Chamber is so lucky to be part of it. As of now we have 200 exhibitors, over 20 guest speakers and more than 900 people attending each day.
At this year’s conference there will be a variety of presentations on topics such as safety, corrosion control, regulatory compliance and environmental protection. Presenters include organizations such as New Mexico Energy Minerals & Natural Resources Department, the Colorado School of Mines, Rio Grande Foundation and BLM.
Besides the Chamber, these other organizations play a big part in putting this conference on. They are Four Corners Chapter of API American Petroleum Institute, Sandia Mountain Section of NACE National Association of Corrosion Engineers, Four Corners Chapter of ASSE American Society of Safety Engineers, Four Corners Chapter of SPE Society of Petroleum Engineers, and Desk and Derrick Club of Farmington.
Just like with the Chamber committees, these amazing people are also volunteers. A conference like this would not happen without all of these people coming together.
The conference is opened to companies and personnel in the oil and gas industry, but will benefit the community as a whole. If you would like more information about the conference, please call the Chamber. Deadline to purchase lunch or reception tickets is April 13.
The Farmington Chamber is organized for the purpose of serving and advancing the civic and business interest of the City of Farmington and the Four Corners region. Remember, you can always stop by the Chamber office for all the latest news that is happening in the community, or give us a call.
Our office is located at 100 W. Broadway and our phone number is 505-325-0279. We would love to see you.
Audra Winters is the President/CEO of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce.
