Chamber Chat: Here's how to get active in the Farmington Chamber of Commerce
I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Here at the Chamber we are getting ready for a fantastic 2018. We are looking forward to working with our members and offering them more for their membership.
We would like to see more of our members become more engaged in the Chamber, so we can continue to grow and be able to offer more to our community.
Did you know that the Chamber has seven committees that met each month? The Chamber would not be able to do all that it does without all of these committees and the people who volunteer to serve on them.
Below is a list of all the committees and what they do. If you would like to be more involved in the Chamber and would like to join one of these committees, please give us a call we would love to have you.
Education Committee: (4 p.m., fourth Tuesday of the month) Welcomes new teachers by hosting a New Teachers’ Luncheon for Farmington schools. Implemented the “It’s YOUR Life” program, taught to every ninth-grade class in Farmington schools by business professionals within the chamber, and host Rocinante High School career day.
Farmington Young Professionals: (5:30 p.m., third Tuesday of the month) FYP consists of motivated, energetic, young-at-heart professionals, who seek enrichment by participating in professional, community, and social activities that improve the community and its members. Childhaven Dinners, Speed Networking, Leadership Development
Finance and Operations Committee: (3:30 p.m. the Tuesday prior to the Board of Directors meeting) Responsible for overseeing the financials of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, including reviewing the monthly bank statements, invoices and the management of the chamber’s investments.
Health & Wellness Committee: (3:30 p.m., first Tuesday of the month) Responsible for the annual health fair, health seminars, and promotes exercise initiatives in the workplace.
Legislative Committee: (Varies, October thru December) Responsible for publishing a legislative brochure stating the chamber’s perspective on issues as they concern the chamber’s membership base.
Promotions and Special Events: (Noon, second Thursday of the month at No Worries) Responsible for creating and implementing new fundraisers for the chamber, most notably, Chile in October and the Membership Celebration
Redcoat Ambassadors: (Noon, second Monday of the month) Official ambassadors to the chamber, participating in ribbon cuttings, thank you visits, ground breakings, and make a yearly trip to the NM Legislative Opening Reception in Santa Fe.
