The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield facility is seen from the air during the San Juan River Balloon Rally on Friday in Bloomfield.

We hope you had a chance to enjoy all the great activities that the City of Bloomfield and Gateway Civitans hosted over the 4th of July weekend.  It was a great event – and fun was had by all who attended.  What a great event for our community! The fireworks were awesome and seemed to go on forever! We all really enjoyed the display and are looking forward to next year’s spectacular event!

Our 10th Annual Balloon Rally was wonderful! Friday on Event Sponsor Day, we had 13 balloons in the air over the San Juan River.  Mass Ascension on Saturday had 18 balloons!  The air was literally filled with balloons. Thanks to our great pilots and our sponsors we had a successful rally.  The balloon glow was awesome – 16 balloons glowed, the weather was perfect and the crowds had a great time! On Sunday, we had unusual wind, and one lucky balloon got to land at the BHS Baseball Field!  The pilot was a Utah State Senator – and he was quite impressed with the facilities. We had glorious weather for the entire weekend. All the balloons launched and we had a wonderful ride down the San Juan River.

A huge thank you to our Major Sponsors – WPX, the City of Bloomfield, SunRay Park and Casino and Country Gas - our Event Sponsors - Independence Capital, Wagner Equipment,  SJRMC, Holiday Inn Express, Bank of the Southwest,  K & C Transport. Saturday’s flight sponsors were Gwen Alston,   Citizens Bank, Alpha Duran and family, MRC Global, Wells Fargo Bank, Commissioner Margaret Mc Daniel, Senator Steve Neville, DJ’s Pizza, Joe and Julie Rasor, Western Refining, Bloomfield Fire Department, RA Biel Plumbing and Heating, Serious Texas and Kozi Homes. Our hospitality sponsor was the Wooden Nickel and in-kind sponsors include Serrano’s, Farmer’s Market and Farmington Fire. A special thank you to Dorothy Nobis – she volunteered for every event! Thank you everyone – this was a huge event for the Chamber and we could not have done this without your support!  See you next year!

Our local Grower’s Market opened July 13 and will be held at Bishop Square (corner of Broadway and First Street) from 4:30 to 6 p.m. every Thursday night.  All Growers are welcome – and the fee is only $10 for the entire season or $5 per day.  Please call Amy at 632-0880 for more information.

If you are interested in hosting an After Hours event, attending a meeting or becoming a member, please contact the Chamber at 632-0880. For a listing of annual events, visit our web site at www.bloomfieldchamber.info or on Facebook.  Don’t forget our monthly meetings will resume in August – the second Wednesday of the month at the Multi Cultural Center.  Hope to see you then!
