Petersons celebrate 60th anniversary
Marlene (Anderson) and Richard James Peterson, of Farmington, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
They plan to celebrate the milestone this summer when the family comes together for an annual trip to Durango, Colo., to see the Bar D Wranglers.
The couple met as young adults in Huntington, Utah. Marlene's mother had a café and her father had a service station, and she worked at both. Richard and his work crew stopped there to buy food and gas on their way to and from work.
The couple married on Dec. 21, 1956, in Neola, Utah, in a ceremony officiated by Stake President Ezra J. Nixon.
They moved in 1958 from Vernal, Utah, to Farmington so Richard could work in the oilfield.
Richard worked for Aztec Well Service for 42 years. He retired on Dec. 31, 2009, 12 days before his 77th birthday. Marlene is a full-time wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Richard enjoys golfing, hunting and boating. Marlene enjoys cooking, reading, sewing and crafts. Together, they enjoy working in the yard and traveling to visit their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Colorado, Arizona and Texas.
They are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The couple has four children, Stewart (Nichole) Peterson, of Windsor, Colo.; Craig (Sheri) Peterson, of Farmington; Michael (Bree) Peterson, of Mesa, Ariz.; and Rick (Kari) Peterson, of McKinney, Texas.
They have 13 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tenille) Peterson, of Midland, Texas; Christopher (Megan) Peterson, of Farmington; Mark Peterson, of Farmington; Matthew Peterson, of Lubbock, Texas; Lyndley (David) Busch, of Gilbert, Ariz.; Brent (Britney) Peterson, of Farmington; Brian (Danielle) Peterson, of Greeley, Colo.; Hannah and Tatum Peterson, of Mesa; and Jordan, Paige, Chase and Cody Peterson, of McKinney.
