Veneda (Westman) and Donald Pearson, of Farmington, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

The couple married on Oct. 13, 1946, in Arnold, Neb. Plans for their milestone anniversary include a drive to see the fall colors and lunch with family.

Together, Donald and Veneda owned Southwest Geophysical for 27 years before retiring.

Before that, Donald worked for 20 years with Schlumberger, and Veneda taught at Mesa Verde Elementary School.

For years, Veneda was a member of the LL art group, and Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. Today, they enjoy their home, visiting with family and friends and caring for their dog, Cindi.

The couple has four children, Donna Shuler of Placentia, Calif., Kathleen Nelson and Phyllis Henrie, both of Farmington, and Deborah Atkins of Big Sky, Mont.

They have five grandchildren, Kristine Hanson of Gilbert, Ariz., Jonathan Shuler of Fullerton, Calif., Erinn Kniffen of Dickenson, N.D., Emily Hopkins of Dallas, Texas, and Julie Pera of Irvine, Calif.

They also have five great-grandchildren, Audrey and Luke Shuler of Fullerton, Calif., David James and Darynn Kniffen of Dickenson, N.D., and Bailey Hopkins of Dallas, Texas.
