Anniversary: Marlene and Emory Goertz

Marlene and Emory Goertz, of Farmington will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 28.

Marlene (Geer) and Emory Goertz, of Farmington, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary later this month.

The couple were high school sweethearts and married on Sept. 28, 1951, in Newton, Kan., with the Rev. H. B. Schmidt officiating.

The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a reception from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 at First United Methodist Church of Farmington, 808 N. Monterey Ave. The celebration is open to friends and family.

Emory retired in 1992 from the Bureau of Reclamation, and Marlene is retired from the Farmington Municipal School District.

Together, the couple is active in their church and enjoys gardening. Marlene also enjoys embroidery.

The couple has two children, Grandon Goertz and his wife Nancy (Inskeep), of Sandia Park, and Myra Rogan and her husband Bernard Rogan, of Farmington.

They also have four grandchildren, Michelle Buchanan and her husband Jerry Buchanan, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Levi Dodge and his wife Aliesha Dodge, of Crouch Mesa, Miriya Julian and her husband Jason Julian, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ariana Goertz, of Las Vegas, Nev.

They also have three great-grandchildren, Kira Buchanan, Paul Dodge and Mason Julian.
