Anniversary: Gayle and James Barfoot

Gayle and James Barfoot marked 45 years of marriage earlier this month.

Gayle (Ota) and James Barfoot, of Farmington, recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

They marked the milestone with dinner in Durango and a weekend in Denver.

The couple married Aug. 21, 1971, at the Denver Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Milo B. Arbuckle officiating.

The couple met in high school and together attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.

Both Gayle and James are retired from public school administration.

Their hobbies include sewing, reading, skiing, fishing, woodworking, quilting, football, church work and spending time with family.

The couple have two children, Melissa Martinez, of Farmington, and Jeff Barfoot, of Dallas; and three grandchildren, Calder and Milo Barfoot, of Dallas, and Addy Martinez, of Farmington.
