Anniversary: Sharon and Jake Hottell

Sharon and Jake Hottell met while they were students at Aztec High School.

Sharon and Jake Hottell, of Aztec, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.

The couple started dating while they were students at Aztec High School. They married on May 11, 1966, in Aztec, before Jake left for boot camp in New Jersey.

After Jake returned from serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, the couple traveled around the country, living in New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon, Indiana, Kentucky, and Nashville, Tenn.

They spent several years in Nashville pursuing their music. During that time, Jake worked as a recording engineer, and the couple worked with many talented songwriters and artists, including Roy Orbison.

Jake and Sharon Hottell celebrated 50 years of marriage last week.

Sharon and Jake own and operate Mach I Electronics in Aztec.

Their hobbies include creating music, organic farming and spending time with friends and family.

The couple has two children, Zachary Hottell, of Aztec, and Johnathan Hottell and his wife, Aleece, of Sachse, Texas.

The couple also has four grandchildren, Wyatt, James, Sydney and Marcus Hottell.
