Anniversary: Duane and Sue Maloy

Duane and Sue Maloy will celebrate 70 years of marriage on Feb. 14.

Duane and Sue Maloy, of Marvel, Colo., will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 14 with an open house party from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6848 Colo. Highway 140 in Red Mesa, Colo. No gifts are requested.

Duane and Sue Trujillo were introduced to each other by Sue's friend, Patsy Talley, in Safford, Ariz., on the very day that Duane had joined the U.S. Navy. The couple married six months after he was discharged on  Feb. 14, 1946, in Oakland, Calif.

Duane worked in the oil field and farmed. He owned D & C Hardware and Feed in Bloomfield. He enjoyed calf roping, team tying and participated in many rodeos throughout the area. Sue was a homemaker and worked at the feed store alongside her husband. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially ceramics.

The couple have five children, Marion Dennis (died at age 2 1/2 in 1949), Teri (Kent) James of Maui, Hawaii, Patti (Darel) Jack of Red Mesa, Colo., Michael (Cindi) Maloy of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Tim (Charee) Maloy of Cedar Crest; 20 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
