Anniversary: Max and Joann Lare

Max and Joann Lare, of Farmington, celebrated their golden 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 22.

Max met Lenora Joann Dobbs in 1964 while working at the West San Juan County Department of Public Welfare in Shiprock. Max was a social worker, and Joan was a secretary. The couple married Jan. 22, 1966, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, with Father Neri Graskoviak as celebrant.

Max and Joann renewed their vows on Jan. 21 at the same church, with Father Tim Farrell as celebrant. The couple celebrated with a family dinner on Jan. 23. They will have another party this summer with extended family and friends.

Max is a retired pipe fitter from the Local 412 Pipe Fitter's Union. Joann is retired from social services. They enjoy exploring historical and archaeological sites in New Mexico, reading Hispanic literature and folk stories, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

The Lares have five children, Aaron (Shelley) Lare, Monte (Savina) Lare, Kelsey (Abby) Lare, Brandon (Cheryl) Lare and Andrea (Mark) Atwood; and 14 grandchildren and one on the way, Jerham Lare, Laisha (Corey) Andreas, Javen Lare, Veda Lare, Grette Lare, Kateri Lare, Lenora Lare, Rhian Lare, Vance Lare, Asira Lare, Prizm Cohoe, Chance Cohoe, Harli Atwood and Connice Atwood.
