Anniversary: Michael and Shirley Voita

Michael and Shirley Voita have been married for 50 years this month.

Michael and Shirley Voita, of Farmington, celebrated their golden 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 21. The couple will celebrate with a family party this summer at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Michael met Shirley Ann Bell through mutual friends, and the couple married Jan. 21, 1966, at St. Agnes Catholic Parish in Phoenix, Ariz., with Father Martin as celebrant.

Michael and Shirley moved to Farmington in 1976.

Michael is retired from the Four Corners Power Plant, where he was employed as a labor relations representative. Shirley is a retired school nurse. The couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, golfing, volunteering and attending church activities.

The couple have five children, Michael Voita Jr., of Farmington, Annie (Jonathan) Grimes, of Tucson, Ariz., Amy (Joel) Hambright, of Huntsville, Texas, Jimmy (Jamie) Voita, of Farmington, and Clara (Dave) Sais, of Albuquerque; and 14 grandchildren, Sarah Grimes Lewis, Caleb Grimes, Seth Grimes, Josiah Grimes, Nathan Hambright, Gabriel Hambright, Laney Hambright, Betty Voita, Charlie Voita, Maggie Voita, Annabelle Voita, Katie Sais, Jacob Sais and Aaron Sais.
