County jail earns three-year accreditation

FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Adult Detention Center has been recognized for earning its three-year Detention Center Accreditation from the New Mexico Association of Counties.
This marks the second time the detention center has received the accreditation, according to a press release from San Juan County.
The program aims to enhance the professional standards for the state's detention centers, the release states.
Facilities that receive the accreditation must pass a site inspection that evaluates them on 208 standards.
"The third-party review of our Adult Detention Center facility is a testament to the professional job being done by our staff on a daily basis," said San Juan County Commission Chairman Jack Fortner in a prepared statement. "We are quite proud of having met the high standard for providing detention services as set by the New Mexico Association of Counties Accreditation Program."
