College receives Military Friendly School Award

FARMINGTON — San Juan College has been named a silver-level Military Friendly School Award recipient for 2017.
The ratings acknowledge companies and colleges that show "positive employment and education outcomes for veterans and their families," according to a press release from San Juan College.
In November, more than 200 companies and 1,200 post-secondary schools were named "Military Friendly." Among those, 154 employees and 541 schools were recognized for excellence in several categories, the press release states.
"Being named Military Friendly is a huge tribute to San Juan College as a whole and especially the hard work of the Veteran Center staff," said David Drake, coordinator for the San Juan College Veteran Center, in a prepared statement. "We hope that our work in the Center helps veterans feel at home at San Juan College, and ultimately, earn the degree and their Challenge Coin."
The Veteran Center awards Challenge Coins to veterans who earn degrees or certificates at the school.
