Farmington High teacher is finalist for award
FARMINGTON — A Farmington teacher is among the educators in New Mexico chosen as a finalist for the 2017 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Farmington High School teacher Stephanie Jaquez is one of 16 teachers from seven communities who were named finalists for the award, according to a press release from the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico.
The foundation honors “outstanding teachers for their exceptional work in helping students learn, think and create,” the release states.
Teachers are nominated for the award, and finalists are chosen through an application process. Members of the selection committee will visit finalists over the next few weeks to determine the seven recipients of the award.
Recipients will be announced in November. They will be inducted into the Golden Apple Academy of Fellows, receive a cash prize and can benefit from a professional development fund.
