Local college students garner recognition

Several San Juan County students were recently recognized by their respective colleges.

Brigitte Perera, of Farmingon, graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with high distinction. She was recognized at the commencement ceremony on May 14.

Also, Mackenzie Pavlik, of Farmington, graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., during the school’s commencement ceremony on May 8.

In other collegiate news, Austin Charging, a Piedra Vista High School graduate, was named to the dean's list at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., for the spring semester.

Students must earn a GPA of at least 3.75 to be named to the list.
