FARMINGTON — The Four Corners Chapter of the Armaduras Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club raised more than $800 for a local combat veteran, retired New Mexico National Guard Master Sgt. David Montoya.

Montoya, who served two tours in Iraq, has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

The motorcycle club learned about a fundraiser for Montoya from a story The Daily Times published on April 15.

The club was gearing up for National Police Week by selling yard signs to display at homes and businesses. The members decided to donate proceeds from the event to Montoya.

Club members met with Montoya on May 14 while delivering the signs to the five local police departments.

Bloomfield Mayor Scott Eckstein presented the money to Montoya at the Bloomfield Police Department.
