16 take part in Four Corners Open Chess Tourney

FARMINGTON — The 2016 Four Corners Open Chess Tournament took place March 5 and 6 and San Juan College in Farmington.

The tournament consisted of 16 players in the rated category, plus six casual players.

Chess players came from New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.

In the main tournament, first place was a tie between Dennis Dyer and Preston Herrington. Third place was a tie between Norbert Martinez and Greg Stricklin.

Herrington also placed first in the Speed Chest Tournament, and second place went to Sticklin.
