San Juan County 4-H Club competes in Arizona
Members of the San Juan County 4-H Club competed in the Arizona National Livestock Show on Dec. 27 to Jan. 1. The students showed cattle, sheep, pigs and goats. Below are their results:
Sheep
Kelsie Silva, of the Levi and Calico 4-H Club, placed fourth with an AOB wether and seventh with a blackface wether.
Mikayla Silva, of the Levi and Calico 4-H Club, placed 10th with a lightweight blackface wether.
Mercedes Silva, of the Levi and Calico 4-H Club, placed ninth with a middleweight blackface wether.
Katelin Spradley, of the Pioneer Kidz Club, placed ninth with a heavyweight blackface wether.
Cabree Mullins, of the Levi and Calico 4-H Club, placed second with an AOB wether and fourth with a heavyweight blackface wether.
Pigs
Racine Eavenson placed sixth with a spot barrow and seventh with a pair of crossbred gilts.
Taylee Velasquez placed eighth with a Hampshire barrow and fifth with a Hampshire gilt.
Ty Velasquez placed second with a crossbred barrow, fifth place with a Yorkshire barrow and ninth with a Yorkshire gilt.
All are from the Pioneer Kidz 4-H Club.
Goat
San Juan County only had one exhibitor competing in the goat barn. Leondra Begay from the Dreamweavers 4-H Club showed two wethers and placed fourth and sixth.
Cattle
Myron Denetclaw, of the Shiprock 4-H Club, showed two prospect steers and placed second and seventh.
Cabree Mullins, of the Levi and Calico Club, showed a third- and sixth-place market steers.
