Anniversary: Eugene and Joanne Elliott
Eugene and Joanne Elliott of Farmington are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.
Gene met Joanne Christensen while working at a grocery store in Farmington. He helped her and her mother with their groceries. Joanne would sit in her front yard, hoping Gene would drive by, and he did several times.
The couple was married Sept. 6, 1955, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mesa, Ariz. temple.
Gene and Joanne will join their family for an anniversary celebration on Labor Day weekend in Colorado.
Gene and Joanne own and operate Gene's Frame and Alignment. He is an aspiring golfer, and she is an expert quilter and has made award-winning quilts. They love to travel in their RV, go square dancing and ride their four wheelers.
The couple has five children, Tara (Darell) Rogers of Albuquerque, Les (Tina) Elliott of Farmington, Lisa (Del) Marcy of Oro Valley, Ariz., Lyn (Andrea) Elliott of Springville, Utah, and Eric (Eliane) Elliott of Albuquerque; 31 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
