Anniversary: Leonardo and Madonna Maldonado
Leonardo and Madonna Maldonado, of Farmington, will celebrate their silver 25th wedding anniversary on June 30. The couple will travel to Angeles City, Philippines, to celebrate with family and friends. They will then take a trip to Hong Kong and Macau.
Leonardo and Madonna Rocha met through a mutual friend while Leonardo was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and he made a trip to the Philippines in the summer of 1987. Madonna was attending college at Holy Angel University in Angeles City. Once Leonard's tour in Okinawa was up and Madonna had completed her degree, she came to the United States. The couple was married June 30, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Leonard is a U.S. Marine Corps Junior ROTC instructor at Shiprock High School. Madonna is a supervisor at Sam's Club in Farmington. The couple retired from the Marine Corps in 2012 and moved back to Farmington. They have made numerous moves and lived in many different homes, but they still enjoy traveling. They also enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Leonard is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting with his sons. Together, the couple enjoys fishing.
Leonard and Madonna have two sons, David Maldonado, of Farmington, who is employed in Odessa, Texas, and Patrick Maldonado of Yuma, Ariz., and three grandchildren, Amaya Maldonado of Chambersburg, Pa., and Kalaiyah and Kade Maldonado of Farmington.
