Pets of the Week: June 14

The Daily Times

Leia: Leia is a fun, active 4-year-old border collie lab mix.  She is looking for a forever home that will include her in daily activities and have lots of love. Leia has been at the shelter since November and has been overlooked for a reason the staff cannot figure out. She can be a bit hyper in her kennel, but after she gets out, she can demonstrate that she knows a few commands, such as sit, off and stay.

Mel: Mel is full of life, love and possibly springs! He loves to run and bounce. He came in covered in mats and had to be shaved and. Now, his true personality shows, and it is amazing! Mel would love to be a friend for life to the right family. He is a 4-year-old poodle mix with lots of energy and love. He is already neutered and ready to go home today. Mel’s adoption fee is $80.

Anjelica: Anjelica is just that — an angel.  She is quite the social gal and is looking for a little extra special attention of her own. She has pretty green eyes and soft gray and black tiger markings. She is spayed, micro-chipped and ready to go home today.

Ryan: This is a handsome, independent fellow.  He loves to make you work for his attention, but once you've passed the test, you will have found a forever friend who will work vigorously to keep the petting going. Ryan is in no hurry to get anywhere and makes sure to get in a good stretch before moving from his spot. His fluffy fur will need to be brushed when he climbs down from his window perch. Ryan will make a great addition to a busy household that is looking for a furry companion.

The Farmington Animal Shelter is located at 133 Browning Parkway and can be reached at 505-599-1098. Check for a up-to-date list of pets up for adoption.

Sarah: This is a 13-year-old thoroughbred mare that was rescued by a kind lady.

She's an off-the-track horse that just didn't run fast enough. Sarah has completed rehabilitation and is ready for a new home.

Four Corners Equine Center staff have treated her for ulcers, and she's fine now.

Sarah does wind suck, although casually. Her ground manners are great. She leads, loads, stands for the farrier and likes to be groomed.

Sarah's adoption fee of $400 includes 30 days of saddle training and six lessons for the new person in her life.
