FARMINGTON — During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, several organizations in San Juan County will come together to raise awareness about the disease and collect money for patients and survivors through the Get Pinked campaign.

Several groups will host month-long events. Sí Señor Restaurant is selling pink lemonade and the Farmington Fire Department is selling pink shirts. Bloomfield Florist will have special pink arrangements and Wooden Nickle will paint its buffalo statue pink.

Meanwhile, other organization are hosting larger event. Here are three you may want to check out:

Bloomfield Fire Department Get Pinked Run: The department will host a mud run and other fun runs/walks starting at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Bloomfield Cultural Center, 333 S. First St. Registration is $25 for a walk, $30 for a run and $35 for the mud run. Group rates and reduced prices for students are offered. Register at active.com or at the cultural center from 1 to 7 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7 to 8:50 a.m. Oct. 10.

National Night Out: Farmington Police Department is hosting National Night Out from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Brookside Park, 1801 Brookside Drive in Farmington. Part of the National Night Out will be the "Pink the Chief" campaign. Donate at gofundme.com/pinkthechief. Money raised will benefit the Cathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund. If $5,000 is raised, the police chief will dye his mustache pink. If $10,000 is raised, the chief will also dye his eyebrows pink. If the community raises $15,000, the chief will dye his hair pink, and the police department command staff will also dye their hair pink. National Night Out will also feature a pumpkin pick for kids, a pig cookie decorating station, K9 unit demonstrations, bicycle safety, rides, food and other attractions.

Mom Prom: Take your mother to prom from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St., and have pictures taken with Belle and the Beast from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” This year’s theme is “Be Our Guest.” Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased at fmtn.org/civiccenter and at the Civic Center box office or by calling 505-599-1148.
