Jeff Dunham to emcee Mother Hubbard celebration
LAS CRUCES - As the community prepares to celebrate the many accomplishments of Barbara “Mother” Hubbard, some exciting updates are in store, including a change of venue.
The “95 and Very Much Alive” event is set to take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at New Mexico State University’s Pan Am Center and will feature stand-up comedian and actor Jeff Dunham as the emcee.
Dunham was the winner of an American Collegiate Talent Showcase (ACTS) organized by Hubbard and continues to show his appreciation for her and the program. In 2016, Dunham brought Hubbard on stage during his performance at the Pan Am Center and presented her a $25,000 check to support her ACTS Scholarship Fund.
“I am the luckiest woman on this planet that people like Jeff continue to remember what the ACTS Scholarship Fund is all about. It makes everything I have tried to do completely worthwhile,” Hubbard said.
Dunham will be giving Achmed, Peanut, Walter and his other associates the night off as he takes on the role of emcee for the evening.
Brennin Hunt, one of the stars of Fox’s “RENT Live” and the Broadway production of “Pretty Woman,” will also be in attendance and perform. Hunt, like so many others, attributes his success to Hubbard. Other surprises are planned to make the evening one to remember.
The event will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner and a special tribute to Hubbard will follow.
Tickets are $100 or a table of 10 for $1,000 which includes dinner and a cash bar. Sponsorships are also available.
Those interested can purchase tickets at www.acts4ever.com or at Ashley Furniture located at 3299 Del Rey Boulevard.
