Entries sought for steampunk costume contest
FARMINGTON – Entries are being sought for a costume contest that will be part of the “Steamers & Dreamers” steampunk convention in Aztec next month.
The convention takes place Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Aztec Community Center, 101 S. Park Ave., and will feature food, beer, wine, vendors, music, entertainment, a dance and photo opportunities.
The costume contest features categories for men, women and children. All costumes must be registered before the contest. The deadline is one hour prior to the contest or contestants may register online. No pyrotechnics will be allowed, and all steampunk weapons must be declared and checked at the door, and will be allowed at the sole discretion of security. The winner will be selected by a panel of three judges, and a fan favorite will be selected by the audience.
Each contestant is subject to questions from the panel of judges. The costumes will be evaluated by four criteria, including craftsmanship, functionality, originality and presentation.
Admission to the convention is $10.
