Dancers sought for 'Nutcracker' production
Auditions will take place Oct. 18 on the Fort Lewis College campus in Durango
FARMINGTON – Auditions for the State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara’s “The Nutcracker" production at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., will take place Sunday, Oct. 18.
Local youth dancers, ages 6-15, will be included in the professional production, according to a press release from the organization.
Four performances of “The Nutcracker” will be staged at the Community Concert Hall Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13. Dancers selected during auditions must be available to dance in all shows.
The Oct. 18 auditions will be held on stage at the Community Concert Hall, and dancers are asked to wear leotard/tights and ballet slippers. They are encouraged to arrive early to warm up.
Ballet students ages 6 to 8 will audition from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Students ages 8 to 10 will audition from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Students ages 10 to 12 will audition from 11:15 a.m. to noon, and students ages 12 to 15 will audition from noon to 1 p.m.
To be considered, dancers must be able to fit into the available costumes and are required to participate in all rehearsals on Friday evenings and Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons beginning Oct. 24, except Thanksgiving weekend, as well as after school Dec. 7-10 and during the day Friday, Dec. 11.
