FARMINGTON – The work of a dozen members of the Four Corners Photographic Society is featured in a show continuing throughout May at the Farmington Civic Center.

A total of 55 images are featured in the exhibition, which is one of two shows that society members stage each year at the civic center. The show opens with a reception Friday, May 6 at the civic center.

The list of photographers whose work is included consists of Robert Burnside, Madeleine Mercier, Robert Williams, Marjorie Gabehart, Christina Van Mersbergen, Stu Wilson, Susan Levin, Stacy Harris, Jonathan Kelly, Sheri Bradshaw, Dale Bearden and Darby Donaho.

Ellen Patscheck, the secretary for the Four Corners Photographic Society, said much of the work focuses on landscapes and wildlife shots. Many of the photographers who submitted work for the exhibition specialize in a particular area, but she said many of them chose to work in a different genre for this show.

The society attracts professional, semi-professional and amateur photographers, and the show includes work from shooters in each of those categories, Patscheck said.

“There’s just a real wide variety of photography,” she said. “Some of them were taken in the area, but we have one guy who’s been to China. Some of them were taken on vacations in Hawaii or Europe, so we have worldwide exposure for our photographers. There are some really nice shots.”

The work of Madeleine Mercier is included in the May show by members of the Four Corners Photographic Society.

Many of the pieces in the show are available for purchase. A card accompanying the piece that includes its title and the name of the photographer will indicate whether the photo is for sale.

Patscheck said those who come to view the exhibition will be presented with a ballot and asked for vote for their favorite shot by each photographer.

The Four Corners Photographic Society meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in Room 9006 at San Juan College.
