'People's Choice' winners named in ceremony

"End of Day" by Amanda Boyles won the public vote portion of the fourth annual "People's Choice" competition.

FARMINGTON – Six artists earned cash prizes at the fourth annual “People’s Choice — A Unique Art Exhibit” awards ceremony at the Farmington Civic Center on Saturday, April 9.

In the public vote portion of the contest, Amanda Boyles won first place for “End of Day,” Rod Hubble finished second for “Arid Grace” and Anita Dotson finished third for “Canyon Dwelling.”

In the juried portion of the contest, determined by Cortez artist Susan Reed, Michael Billie finished first for “Five Brush Strokes,” Gilmore Scott was second for “The Color of Female Rain” and Janet McHaley Burns was third for “Draw Near.”

The project was funded in part by the Connie Gotsch Arts Foundation. Other sponsors include the Farmington Downtown Association, the Farmington Civic Center, the Northwest New Mexico Arts Council, Capacity Builders Inc., The Daily Times and the Three Rivers Art Center. Steve Barr of Great Basin Design in Aztec, the honorable mention winner in the 2015 competition, sponsored the second place juried award.
