FARMINGTON — A 36-year-old man was accused last week of raping a woman at Riverside Park in Aztec.

Darrell Tsosie was charged April 27 in Aztec Magistrate Court with one count of criminal sexual penetration in the third degree.

Aztec police were contacted at 5:45 p.m. April 26 by a woman who said she was raped by a friend at Riverside Park, which is located on South Light Plant Road in Aztec.

Officers found Tsosie asleep nude in the backseat of a black vehicle parked on the southeast side of the park. Tsosie told police he passed out after having sex with a woman whose name he did not know, according to the arrest warrant.

The officer told Tsosie the woman said she was raped, and he claimed it was consensual, according to the arrest warrant. He then asked to speak with an attorney.

The woman told police that Tsosie picked her up about a block south of her home after she invited him over to watch stock car racing. He drove her to the park and then ordered her to get in the backseat and take off her clothes, the warrant states.

She refused initially, but complied after he threatened her, the warrant states.

She told detectives he raped her three times, and she left the vehicle after he passed out.

Tsosie is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond, according to court records.

An initial court appearance has not yet been scheduled, court records state.
