Harry Wilfred Franklin Sr.


Harry W. Franklin Sr., 102, passes June 15, 2022 To be laid to rest in Farmington, NM Body viewing will be at Farmington Funeral Home at 9:00 AM on June 23, 2022, funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Farmington, NM for Harry W. Franklin Sr., 102, who died June 15, in his home in Hogback NM. Pallbearers include Gary D. Franklin, Gary S. Franklin, Rashad McGilbert, Jason Franklin, Marcus Franklin, Tory Franklin, Jody Franklin, Chester Franklin Jr., Jerry Gleason, Leonard Yazzie, and Wally McGilbert. The honorary pallbearers are Bill Smith, and Anthony W. Franklin. Harry W. Franklin Sr., son of Mamie and Franklin B. Yazzie was born on May 30, 1920, in Newcomb, NM. He attended Boarding school in Fort Wingate, NM and later in Ganado, AZ. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Upon his discharge he met Margaret B. Adkins who he later married. Together the two of them built and ran a gas station, grocery store, and restaurant in Shiprock, NM. When Mr. Franklin retired from his businesses, he moved out to Hogback, NM where he farmed alfalfa, and vegetables, and cared for livestock until he took his last breath. Survivors include his three sons Harry W. Franklin Jr. of Albuquerque, NM Michael E. Franklin of Kayenta, AZ, Gary D. Franklin of Shiprock, NM, one daughter Sue K. Franklin of Shiprock, NM 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. One Brother Wilford Franklin Sr. and one sister Esther Begay. He was proceeded in death by, his wife Margaret B. Franklin his parents, Mamie, and Franklin B. Yazzie; three Brothers John Franklin, James Franklin, Chester Franklin Sr.; three sisters Mary Smith, Lucy Lee, Mary Toney, and one granddaughter Melanie S. Franklin.
