Davis Begay

Farmington - Davis W. Begay, 61, of Farmington, NM entered heaven on November 22, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife Alberta and their children. He made his grand entrance of life on May 12, 1960 in Phoenix, AZ to David Blackgoat and Helen Jean Harvey-Begay. He was later adopted by Jimmie Begay. Enlisting at 17 years old, Davis was a proud Marine who served in the infantry as an Anti-Armor Weapons Specialist with training in small arms, machine guns, guided missiles, explosives, and demolition. He received additional training in jungle survival, mountain warfare, and amphibious warfare training. Of the 17 years of service, more than half of it was spent out of the United States with service in Japan, Korea, Taiwan,the Philippines, Australia, Canada, Thailand, Central America, the Middle East, and various ports in Hong Kong and Singapore. Davis proudly obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration for transition to civilian life in the oil and gas industry with Burlington Resources. After gaining experience, he moved into technical positions with Williams and became a Plant Operations Supervisor in the Four Corners and later in Ohio and West Virginia. Due to ongoing health issues, he retired to spend time with his family and enjoy his hobbies. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Helen Begay, grandparents, Rufus and Lillie Harvey, various aunts and uncles, and beloved fellow Marines. He is survived by his wife, Alberta Begay of 30 years and son: Steven Dixon (Amy), nephew: Stewart Harrison, and daughters: April Constans (Ryan), Danielle Miner, Ellisa Begay, and Summer Begay, and grandchildren: Evelyn Pruitt, Nolan Constans, Chief Roanhorse, and Zoe Dixon. Services will be held on Monday, November 29th, 2021 10AM at Farmington Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kirtland Cemetery with military honors.
